Dream Symbols: Bedroom / Sleeping
Important note: The intention of dreams is to help you integrate yourself, which is an inward change, not outward, and definitely not directed towards other people. In your dreams, you are every character in your dreams. Other people are only the attribute they personify. The function of Dreams is to paint the meaningful context of your situation so that you can make an intentional rather than reactive choice.
House - Concept of yourself in relation to those close to you.
Bed - An altar you put everything on to dissect to find a solution. (bed is more emotion based rather than logic)
Table - An altar you put everything on to dissect to find a solution. (Table is more logic based rather than emotion)
Rocks - Conscious memories(logical instead of meaningful aspect)
Mountain - (many big rocks) A general topic that has a lot of unprocessed memories.
Earth - Heart
Heaven - Mind
Tree - connection between heart and mind (Also a choice. Hopeful a choice that is the result of the heart and mind coming together)
Baby - Integration products aka. Passion (the result of the heart and mind coming together optimally)
Symbols are the words of the heart/unconscious and can be seen across cultures and time in everything. Let’s start with the common phrase, “I’m going to sleep on it.” When there is too much to consider, we instinctively know that our heart/unconscious will process and sort it out at night. Dreams often come in multiples, like sentences, which seem disjuncted but only seem that way because the alphabet of dreams isn’t constrained, and there are an infinite number of nuanced substitute symbols that can be used. If the next sentence of the dream aims to add the next layer of context, is will use whatever symbols fit best. This seems natural, like “of course Pinnochio’s father is in the belly of the whale at the bottom of the ocean.” When a story doesn’t make sense logically, it is likely that it is in dream language rather than a historical account. Here is a great example of where the dream language actually starts in a story.
Genesis 28:11 “On reaching a certain place, he spent the night there because the sun had set. And taking one of the stones from that place, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.”
I don’t claim to be a historian, but I am guessing that of all the things a person could use as a pillow, even in that time period, that a stone wouldn’t be one of them. In fact, it would likely be the last one. It is also significant that he used a “rock from that place,” because the mountain of memories on that topic would have to be processed one stone or memory at a time. What was the topic he was considering? It was in the name of the mountain which was “Beersheba” which means “Well of Seven.” If water is emotion, then that means he was thinking about the seven emotions. Too bad he didn’t have this website. What does contemplating the fact that we have seven emotions lead to?
Genesis 28:12 “As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.”
He saw the integration process of angels(literally messengers, or in dream symbolism just messages) going back and forth from the heart and mind. This dream was about the nature of emotions and that they are the message from the heart about which of the seven general approaches is most meaningful at a given moment.
To show the continuity of symbolism, what is raw experience? Food. Manna is quite a symbolic food, so what does it mean?
Manna literally means, “What is this?” This raw experience has to be processed, and according to the commandments given regarding manna, it had to be eaten that day. Emotions are messages about the present moment almost exclusively. Similar to how on fridays they would get two days worth of mana and then none on saturday, that is how it is. Some emotions might be a little more long term focused. Sleep is when you get backlogged on eating your manna. It is like when your mailbox is so full that letters spill out on the ground and some blow away in the wind.
When the bedroom theme comes up, it means that there is a large backlog of intentions that weren’t carried out, and there has to be a reset with a new plan. This reset comes with a newly focused intention and a new name. Jacob after this dream becomes Israel and has many babies which are integration products or passion.
Dreams aren’t the easiest thing to understand, and often require someone else’s help. I don’t mean a professional, in fact a friend is probably the best resource because they see things that you might be trying to hide from yourself. Another guide is to think of books, songs, movies or any sort of artwork that contains the symbols in your dreams. As you contemplate them and consider parallels in your current situation, the meaning can become more clear.
